So this is a regulator/rectifier

With out this your battery won't charge for shit.  With a faulty one, your battery will be fed a lot of ac current that sends the battery to an early grave (which is what happened by the time i caught it). Lets not forget that now your riding with a bulging overcharging piece of plastic with battery acid in it right under your nut sack.

The rectifier side of the component changes ac (alternating current) current that comes from the stator or alternator, to dc (direct current) that charges the battery.

The regulator side of the component takes a lightning storm that has been rectified and drops it to a safe voltage that won't Atom bomb your battery. When this part blows, the battery gets severely over charged (aka "oh fuck me"!!).

With the combination of over charging and the wrong form of current going to your battery, yup you guessed it, FREE VISECTOMY PROCEDURE!!

This is not a good combo for an hour trip twice a day to and from the office.

Now of course this isn't catastrophic, but it is a huge pain in the ass because your going no where until it's fixed! Everyone will absolutely love you for that. The damage will take a little re-wiring but no biggie. The hardest part is waiting for PARTS!!!!!! Urgh!!

So now I get the pleasure of going though all the electrical while stressing about a part getting to me before I get fired. YAY!! Don't you just fuckin love pulling the bike apart when it's not a project but when something fucked up. These things have such good timing!!

Well nothing like pressure to get a repair done. I have to admit the person that sold me the part gave me a very very decent price. I went with the gsx-r regulator/rectifier (one that works). The part has been shipped and I am stressfully waiting.

Not gonna lie, I had to bargain shop for this part (that did not help my timeline for work). Found it within one day, finalized it by the second day and still waiting for it to touch down. I tried to choose the less of two friggin evils by not going negative in the bank(bad choice). Now the very thing that feeds the bank is in jeopardy *shakes head* (once again "oh fuck me").

If I've learned anything from this it's this.

Spend the money to save the time or spend the time to save the money! I am sure that next time i will spend the fuckin money even if i don't have it!
