It's really cool that your close with your father like that. I wish I had one like that. Growing up I've always have to excel in anything and everything to gain any kind of respect or be noticed from my dad. I guess it didn't matter anyway, with a liquor bottle in his hand all the time. We never got along, and just when we started to really know each other, I guess even then I wasn't good enough in his eyes, and so he left. I'm 21 now, and that was 4 1/2 years ago, and yet with him not around I still have a tight family. Like you, I know the importance of family, it's all you have when everything else falls apart. :)

Its good for you to express your feelings and let it out. I saw the emotion you have in your eyes and I can tell how much your parents mean to you. It reminds me of how much my parents mean to me. Stay strong and keep climbin up higher and higher to success. Con mucho amor y cariño
I got a little emotional myself when I watched your video. I'm very glad to see and hear that everything is going well for you with these films. I hope that your father gets better since he sounds like a great person as you have said in the video and more fathers should be like him when it comes to loving and encouraging you and your dreams.

well somaya ........ mamita. i am going to wish you a sweet and refreshing sleep tonight. i am about to hit the hay as they say in the south. which i have no hay (lol) i got a nice soft queen size bed and i am thankful to God for it ;) seriously ma. yeah anyways........ Somaya drink plenty of healthy fluids like apple juice, water, hot tea, and spirite and/ or ginger ale. eat some of your favorite chicken noodle soup. get in a nice warm well hot bed idk if it's super cold there but it's hot/ cool here day by day. anyways get under the electric blanket and other quilts to bundle up. relax and sweet sleep. 4 get about the extra things and just rest ma. it is like Tony the Tiger say, " Does a body Grreat!" yeah so i want you to recover quickly. It's the 200% Somaya Reece I will be hearing from soon instead of 150. take care ma.

Somaya. I'll tell you one thing. This blog post made me feel very emotional because I thought about my mom and dad and how much they mean to me. I still argue with my mom and dad. Both of them are hippies so they kind of accept whatever it is that I do. (If you ever saw "Family Ties" my mom and dad would be the mom and dad in the show except they didn't sell out. My dad has had a career as a musician for around 30 years professionally and my mom was a freelance violinist for years and decided to be a social worker. I'd be the Michael J. Fox character in the show even when I was little ["sha na - na na"].). I still have problems with my mom because sometimes she tries to help too much and I tell her "Mom, you don't know what you are talking about. Can't you at least declare when you are trying to help too much that you don't know what's up?!" My dad I absolutely adore and I grew up to be just like him. But my brother and my sister I care about COMPLETELY. There are people I'll say I care about but only to a certain degree. No, my little brother and my little sister are the most important thing in the world to me and the only people in the world that love them as much as me are my dad and my step-mom (and I'm sure their grandma- my step-mom's mom- who lives across the street from them loves them just as much probably). I was just reminded of how much my kid brother and my kid sister mean to me and how actually at one point they saved me so that I could succeed - It made me feel really good.

Somaya, You don't know me, but I've been following, not only your career, but your life. Everything that you've posted on myspace. I'm intrigued by you. Of coarse it started by my attraction to you, (me 7 a million others) but, with time, I feel like I've gotten to know what makes you tick. We have the same kind of history. "Hispanic family with humble roots". Just a little history about me. I grew up in Tolleson Arizona. A small farming community outside of Phoenix. During the summer months, my friends & I would work in the fields, picking onions, watermelon, etc. That's all we knew. In 1988, I got a deal with Island Records (New York). I am now a producer/ song writer/ keyboardist residing in L.A. I am proud of you and know what you have accomplished is truly based on determination. You've have inspired a song that I've co-written with a smooth jazz artist named, Kyle Wolverton. The song is affectionately entitled, 'Somaya". It's gotten great reviews in the smooth jazz genre.
