DDYK - Putting Video on your Homepage

Just wanted to welcome all the newcomers to ShareNow!  We’re glad to have you here!

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about how to put videos on your homepage - so lets take a walk through it:

  • First step (after logging in, of course) is to make sure you have uploaded a video or image… you’ll find your uploaded videos in your Media section.
  • After you have content uploaded to your profile go down to the ‘Customize’ button (the bottom button on your left side tool bar)
  • Then click the ‘Custom Home’ tab and select your homepage layout - one column or two… don’t forget to hit the Update button!
  • Lastly, scroll down and select what piece of content you’d like to feature on your homepage in the 'Add Media' section shown below!

Now click your ‘Home’ button and check it out!

***************************************************************************

I’m sure you’ve also noticed the ‘Edit’ tab on your Homepage so lets also take a look at that:

When you click ‘Edit’ you’ll see your Homepage change to something like this (you'll see two .swf files here already - yours might be blank) :

This brings up the ‘Preview’, ‘HTML’, and ‘Text’ tabs.  The ‘Preview’ tab obviously takes you back to the normal Homepage view.  If you select ‘HTML’ you’ll find this window that pops up:

In this window you can drop embed codes from around the internet!  Give it a try with your ShareNow friend's videos!

Just a heads up, sometimes not all the graphics on banners will come through (we need to protect our platform!) but everything from RSS feeds, media players, slide shows and more is embeddable right here!

The ‘Text’ tab pops up a window for you to put messages around your Homepage.  You can choose the font size of the letters before you post too!

***************************************************************************

OK!  So the last thing to know is that you can rearrange where you feature your videos/text boxes/embedded media.  This can be done in the same ‘Edit’ tab by using the drag-and-drop method!

Take a closer look at the above at the second pic and notice the ‘Drag Here’ buttons as well as the alignment buttons (on the right).

Have fun and let me know if you have any questions!
