'On The Mike with Mike Sherman' is a weekly US TV show which broadcasts on CBS's affiliate, My Network TV.
Created and presented by stockbroker, Mike Sherman, the show focuses on the urban and pop music industry and comprises interviews with R&B, hip-hop, latin, pop and reggaetón artists (as well as actors and celebrities of all kinds).
It covers major music events such as the Billboard Music Awards, American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Awards, Broadcast Music Incorporated Awards, BET Awards and others. Produced by Mike Sherman Productions Inc. and based in Delray Beach, south Florida, the show has been broadcasting since 2003 - firstly on UPN 33 in Miami and several other national cable networks, and now on CBS My 33 since October 2006 and also on CBS My 15 since February 2007. Due to its popularity and consistent ratings, it was retained by Baruch Television Group and Baruch Entertainment, known for syndicating over 500 TV shows such as 'Be In Tune' and 'The Weekend Vibe', and motion picture packages.
Celebrities, whose interviews with Mike have appeared on the show, include: T Pain, Mary J. Blige, Akon, Russell Simmons, the Pussycat Dolls, Ludacris, Scott Storch, Snoop Dogg. Kim Kardashian.
The show's format is exclusive coverage of today's most prestigious red carpet events in music, and all-access behind-the-scenes coverage of today's most popular music videos in the making. It also showcases one-on-one interviews with some of the most popular music artists in the world. It includes a segment called the "Indie Spotlight" which showcases aspiring independent artists and music labels that do not have the marketing resources needed to advance in the music industry. The aspiring artists upload a 60-second video clip to the show's Sharewall page on ShareNow.com where it is displayed and voted on by the viewing audience. Each week, the winner advances to the following week's show. The ultimate winner will be given a major record deal. This interactivity has enhanced the show's ratings, making it one of the highest rated shows in its time slot in south Florida.
The show has helped some of today's premier music artists launch their career, such as Pretty Ricky (nominated for "Best Group" at the BET Awards 2007), Grammy Award-winning rap artist Chamillionaire, who both made their first TV appearance on 'The Mike Sherman Show' as did Miami pop superstars Flo Rida and Sean Kingston.
Mike Sherman is currently in negotiations to host 13 'Be In Tune' summer episodes starting in June 2008 which will be aired in over 120 domestic US markets and in over 50 counties.
Mike's driving passion for hip-hop and R&B music has helped many young adults in inner cities in south Florida fulfil their dreams in the music industry.
